Decent Comedy, Worth A Watch (Big Daddy (DVD))

Big Daddy is an American comedy that came out back in October of 1999. The film was a big success for the director Dennis Dugan and has been a popular film over the past decade that is often shown on TV. Its a film I enjoy and while I wouldn't say it's anything special, it is just a good watch.

The film stars Adam Sandler who plays a young man who is basically a bit of a waster. One day I child shows up on his doorstep and Adam Sandlers character sort of adopts him for a while. Sonny (Adam Sandler) finds it hard enough looking after himself so to look after a young child. So the shows basically follows the relationship that develops between the two and how Sonny and Julian get along.

There are plenty of great little performances in this film. Sandler is in his usual role which he pulls of very well. There are many people who often appear in Adam Sandler films who make an appearence and add to the film. The most noticeable is probably Rob Schneider who plays the delivery guy who just hangs round at Sonny's house.

There is also a love interest in the film which gives the film some warmth and feeling. Its nothing special but does add to the story. There are plenty of funny moments in the film and it does seem to be one of those films you can watch over and over and always enjoy.

The film is rated as a 12, and there is some moderate swearing in there but nothing to serious and I doubt anything sould really offend anyone to much. The film runs for 93 mintues which is probably just about right, it does not drag and yet there is always something going on to keep the viewer interested.

The DVD itself is nothing special really. Has standard features like trailers and things. To be honest I never tend to bother with any of these anyway, I buy DVDs for the film, not the extras.

If your looking for a break through comedy that pushes new boundaries and is something really special, would have to say this is not it. However if your looking for a good fun film that is not to challenging and is easy to watch, this is perfect. Its just a good old fashioned American comedy.

This is certainly not one of my favorite films, but it is one that I am quite happy to sit down and watch every now and again. So give this film a try and am sure you will enjoy it.
