... in films such as Hot Fuzz and shows like Skins. This is Bills best live show by far, the others I found just didnt compare for some reason. He mixes great comedy with music and some slightly strange and weird things, once you watch this, you will probably want to watch it again and again. Some jokes are very clever and he uses music well to tell jokes. Im not sure what the age rating for this DVD is, but it is perfect for kids over 11 really as Bill hardly uses any swear words or make adult references. This is a must se...more

Premium Review Bill Bailey Live - Part Troll (DVD): Constant Laughter Wrapped Up In 1 DVD (559 words)

Rating:

I became a fan of Bill Bailey after watching him on BBC2 shows, like Never Mind The Buzzcocks, so I was so happy when someone bought me the Part Troll DVD as a present. I can honestly say I couldn't stop laughing and enjoyed it very much, even after 10 times of watching it it never fails to make me smile. Part Troll is a live recording of his sell-out performance at the Hammersmith Apollo back in June 2004. Because it's live you get a great sense of atmosphere and can really get into the feel of being there laughing along with the audience. If you've ever seen Bill Bailey before, either on a panel show, Black Books, or other stand-up, you'll have a general ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review The best comedian (309 words)

I got this dvd as part of a 3 dvd boxset of Bill Baileys live shows. He has just released another new dvd that I watched yesterday but am waiting for a suggestion to go through for that. This dvd is so funny. Bill has his own sense of humour which I dont think anyone else has copied. He writes his own songs, that are takes on things already written but with a comedy and dark edge. Hes a very talented musician, using keyboard noises to accent his jokes and to explain things hes talking about. He uses music a lot in his humour. His best instrument is the theramin which creates a lot of cool sounds and adds to the funny side of his songs. He ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bill Bailey Live - Part Troll (DVD): BB for PM! (187 words)
by - written on 09/01/09 (Very useful, 7 readings)
Rating:

Bill Bailey is possibly one of the funniest comedians around, he puts blood, sweat and tears into his shows, and it really does show. BB's comedy is a mixture of general observations about life in general, musical parodies and the plain wierd and excentric. His humour can sometimes be an aquired taste, but in all of his shows he manages to get the balance right. He has a very sureal take on the world, but the things he comes up with will have you howling and wondering why you never saw it that way before. In this show he handles such issues as President Bush, the Taliban, Chris Deburgh and a new national anthem. An accomplished musician Bill plays ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Possibly the funniest DVD ever (163 words)
by - written on 03/03/09 (Very useful, 6 readings)
Rating:

Part Troll is probably the best Bill Bailey DVD I have seen. It is also, one of the finest DVD's of stand up I have ever seen, cleverly interweaving a plethora of ideas in routines from Argos to BBC News. His songs on the guitar are also magical, particualarly the one taking the mickey out of teenage angst songs with extreme wit. The musical sections are indeed also very amusing - the songs, the use of the keyboard (the scale of evil is also really fun) and the parts examining the terror laden BBC News theme are all excellently executed with flourish and confidence. I can barely think of any disadvantages to this DVD. In fact, ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Bill Bailey Live - Part Troll (DVD): Everyone must see this show (179 words)

Bill Baily is a true legend of comedy, he should be made one of our national heros like Stephen Fry or Ricky Gervais! Bill is known for many things such as his stand up routines, sitcoms, panelists on shows such as QI and Never Mind the Buzzcocks and more recently acting in films such as Hot Fuzz and shows like Skins. This is Bills best live show by far, the others I found just didnt compare for some reason.
