Long ago, a few years anyway, a friend and I bought several Tae Bo videos, copied them onto one video together and then lost the originals, maybe I gave them to my friend. Anyway, on and off I have played and joined in with Billy Blanks while he kicks and punches his way across my TV screen. So what is this? Tae Bo was described to me as a cross between kick boxing and dance. I have had a look on Billy's website and the official description is Tae means "foot and leg" in Korean, and Bo is a shortened version of Box. Below is Billy's interpretation of the letters that spell the word, these are copied directly from the ... Read the complete review

How many of you have exercise videos sitting at home that are never used? I’ve just counted mine and I have 10, but the collection does include one video that I regularly use – Tae-Bo. •• WHAT IS IT? •• The video caption is ‘get fit, lose weight, have fun, be strong’ and also claims that millions of people describe tae-bo as ‘energising, explosive, powerful and uplifting’. I would have to agree. Tao-bo is basically solo martial arts to music. You do a series of co-ordinated punches, leg raises and kicks to music – aerobics with a kick! The video says ‘it blends your own hidden ... Read the complete review

I have already written an opinion on Tae-bo as an exercise in general, but being a fan of the Billy Banks video collection I thought I would write a few lines about these as well. I started with Billy's first video for beginners which is only about 30 minutes long and has an introductory section where they teach you all the kicks and punches. It is actually very important to take time to learn these moves as you can injure yourself if you are hitting the wrong way. For example, when punching you must not punch straight ahead as the way that our body is structured means that it causes unecessary and potentially dangerous pressure on the shoulders. Instead ... I was doing Tae-bo for about a year in Australia and moved to the UK and really missed it and couldnt afford to do a class, so I ran out and bought one of Billy Blanks Tae-bo videos which I think is one of the easier ones I think volume 2, which is quite basic but very energetic. Its an electrifing vid that gets you punching, kicking and squating. I think if you are a beginner it is worth your while to invest in the beginner video as it shows you the ways to stand when kicking and the do's and dont's to punching etc. Billy Blank is a great instuctor who helps to get you moving with his energetic and positive ways. The workout brings out ... I like many have fought with my weight since I was a teenager, I have always been tubby, but after having my daughter my weight hit an all time high. At the end of January 2001 I decided that enough was enough and I needed to lose weight, no more excuses. 6 weeks ago when I first started the Tae Bo Basic I weighed 15st 2lbs. The video is by no means easy for someone my size, and I feel half dead when I’ve finished the 30 minute workout, but Billy Blanks has this way of inspiring you to carry on and by the end you feel like you have really achieved. Tae Bo is an aerobic workout that combines boxing, martial arts and dance. It is a lot of fun and ... Read the complete review
