I'm a little amazed that this has yet to be reviewed; given that it's my favourite film of all time! I'm going to review the book as well, so I will include some of the historical background in that, rather than this review, which will solely be of the 1994 film. I've adored Black Beauty since I learnt to read and picked the book up; unluckily being only 4 in 1994 I wasn't going to see it in the cinema so all my viewing comes from home. Knowing that I was a massive fan, and that my only copy of Black Beauty was on VHS, my friend bought me a copy of the DVD of Black Beauty for Christmas a few years ago.
