Advantages: Acting, Action, Plot, Special Effects..

Disadvantages: none

Blade was one of the best vampire movies ever made in my opinion. From the list of critics’ quotes on the back of the video the critics agreed. Now we see the sequel hit the big screen and I rushed down to my local multiplex to in the hope of seeing a bloody good movie. What did I find?

Well in this instalment of the hip and cool vampire flick we see the daywalker betray his beliefs and actually help the bloodsuckers. A new breed of evil called Reapers have become present in the food chain and now the vampire nation approaches Blade in for his help in eliminating the threat. Blade goes against his instinct and helps them while keeping his eye on his enemy. The plot makes way for plenty of action and unlike its predecessor it can jump straight into the action scenes while keeping a very good plot at the same time. The plot in my opinion is better than the first since it contains a couple of twists in the tail and fast paced whereas the original was pretty straight forward and slow at times.

The acting in this movie is quite simply first rate. Wesley Snipes as Blade/Daywalker gives once again a slick and flawless performance. He fits perfectly into the action scenes and also handles the more drama-based scenes with ease. He also manages to bring a hip coolness to every scene in which he stars. Kris Kristofferson returns in this one too even after his apparent demise in the original. However he once again gives a great performance and seems to belong along side the daywalker. Luke Goss plays the lead Reaper and is a guy I have never heard of before but I have been told he was a singer with Bros. However credit where credit is due. He handles his role in an excellent manner and even though he is quite obviously not human he still manages to convey emotions in a convincing way. Overall the cast are flawless. Everyone including supporting roles give the performance of their lives and make every bit believable considering the far-fetched content.

Now my attention moves to the action. Firstly I must say that this instalment contains a lot more action and special effects than its predecessor. This is a very good thing. The action scenes are fast, slick and relevant to the plot. The fight scenes are full of martial arts and are quite mind-blowing. There are also stunts galore to keep even the most addicting action movie freak interested. The special effects are unbelievable. They are so flawless that you almost believe that bodies are melting in a ball of flames and then leaving a pile of ash in their wake. I was blown away by the action.

Overall, every part of this movie has built on the foundation created by its predecessor and in doing this it surpassed my expectations tenfold. This is a great movie in everyway. It in my opinion is miles better than the first and I have heard a lot more people say that too. So if u liked the first they get yourself to the nearest cinema as soon as possible. This is well worth a look. Incredible stuff.

Oooh yes, good movie! Dumb as hell, but just great and the reapers are just fantastic. Actually I saw Eastenders for the first time in ages last week and that bloke married(?) to Dot looks more than a little like a reaper...think she should be careful ;o)
