Released in 1998, in colour and lasts for 91 mintues. The director is Stephen Norrington. Written by David S Goyer based on a Marvel comic book with Wesley Snipes as the Hero and Stephen Dorf as the bad guy.

There are two types of main vampires in the film. The pure bloods who were born as a vampire because their parents was one. They are calm and just want to blend in with the humans. The other type is the half blood. They are a wild party bunch who love the power avaliable to them as a vampire.

Then there is Blade (Snipes). He isn't a half blood or a pure blood. His mother was bitten while in labour and the young baby Blade had already undergone certain genetic changes before he was taken out. He has the powers of the vamps like their super strength and healing abilites of them but he doesn't suffer from the weakness they have like sunlight and silver. That is why he is known as the "Day-Walker" but there is a major down. He is changing into a vamp and is gaining the hunger for blood. He has a sereum he uses but is building up a resistance against it.

A powerful half blood named Deacon Frost (Dorf), and his army are challenge an age-old pure blood Vampyre Dynasty. Sitting on the fence in this little war is Blade and his aging, but still competent partner Abraham Whistler (Kristopherson), become pawns. Also aiding Blade is the very fine
Dr. Karen Janson (N'Bushe Wright) who is searching for a cure for Vampirism.

Kristopherson is a laugh as the human Vampire Hunter. He swears like a truck driver, chews on cigars, and takes a swig from time to time. He's created a massive array of weapons and armour for Blade to work with and their "Father" and "Son" relationship is clearly defined.

This movie is a tremendous action movie with plenty of fighting. The special effects are something in a league of its own.

In conclusion, if you like vampire movies watch this one and
if you like action movies but don't like vampires watch this one anyway. It's a great mix and you don't even notice they are vampires at times. The ending was great and leaves you hanging. COME ON SEQUAL!!!!!!!!!!!
