... from Snipes. However, not even the famed tax dodger's presence could bring Blade: Trinity back from the brink, for this is a woeful mis-step that has a few inspired moments but mostly just falls flat. This film has Snipes returning as Blade, the Daywalker, of whom all the other vampires are terrified. He teams up with Hannibal King (Ryan Reynolds) and Abigail Whistler (Jessica Biel), two humans who save him and aid him in taking down the vampires. They must deal not only with the evil Drake (Dominic Purcell), a mode...more

Premium Review Blade: Trinity (DVD): The third cut is the deepest (386 words)
by - written on 22/04/08 (Very useful, 62 readings)
Rating:

Blade Trinity (2004) is the third in the trilogy of Blade films. Based on the comic book character Blade, this is directed by David Goyer, who also directed Blade 2. The Plot Danica Talos, powerful vampire, has released a legend known as 'Drake', but known once as Dracula! She has done so in the hope that he will unite the vampires and they will rule the world. Half-vampire Blade, now wanted by the FBI, must team up with the Nightstalkers to unleash a virus to end all vampires. With some cutting edge gadgetry and old friend Whistler's daughter, Blade faces his most powerful foe yet. The Cast and Performances Wesley Snipes once ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Third time unlucky (1248 words)
by - written on 16/10/08 (Very useful, 96 readings)
Rating:

Final films to trilogies tend to be either very good or very bad - it's rare to find one that's just indifferent. After two excellent early outings, it's time for Blade to fall on his sword in a disappointing end to the trilogy. The problems start with the plot, which is hackneyed lacks the spark of originality that differentiated the first two Blade films from other action films. It sees Blade on the run from the police, when he's witnessed killing a civilian he mistakes for a vampire. From there, he joins up with the Night Stalkers, a group of humans dedicated to killing vampires as they hunt the ultimate evil - the very first vampire, now resurrected by the ...  Read the complete review

Crowned Review Blade: Trinity (DVD): Blunted (1112 words)
by - written on 10/06/08 (Very useful, 201 readings)
Rating:

I'm a big fan of the first two Blade films. Both Steven Norrington's original and Guillermo del Toro's gloriously colourful and OTT sequel were hugely enjoyable and inventive pieces of popcorn nonsense that made good use of Wesley Snipes monosyllabic, deadpan hero. When I heard that David Goyer, who wrote the first two Blade films and co-wrote Batman Begins, was fully in charge of Blade 3 (eventually released as Blade: Trinity) I had high hopes for a cracking end to a trilogy or just a great third film to leave open the option of a fourth. Sadly, those hopes were not met by Blade: Trinity, easily the weakest of the Blade films and a box-office dud that effectively ended ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Saving Ryans Privates (991 words)

Rating:

The Blade trilogy for me is a good example of how dooyoo can work well for the member. If you look for film reviews online they are often poorly written, usually bias and never in order. Dooyoo, of course, list the best reviews at the top and the worst ones never to be seen again. Blade is the sort of film you need dooyoo for as who would have thought a decent action movie could be made about Vampires? But I started reading it up on it here back then and the write ups were really positive - and this with a movie with Luke Goss from Bros in it (he was very good though)! But you guys were right and I had rented my first vampire action flick, completing the trilogy with ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Blade: Trinity (DVD): Blade Trinity (847 words)
by - written on 26/10/09 (Very useful, 11 readings)
Rating:

My next review is on Blade Trinity, released in 2004, starring Wesley Snipes, Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds's. Blade Trinity was the third and final instalment of the Blade series which is taken after the famous comic book series run. I had actually forgotten about this film until a few days ago when the film aired on TV. I was a huge fan of the first and perhaps even the second blade film. It was fresh, with the times, action packed and gory, which is everything one would expect from a vampire based film, so I was interested to watch the third instalment to see what direction they would take, and I must admit that it wasn't as good as the first two ...  Read the complete review
