I'll be honest and say I was a little dubious about watching this one after being really disappointed by another Will Ferrell outing, Talladega Nights. But since there was nothing else on my Amazon rentals list, I thought it was worth a go, so I sent off for Blades of Glory, and finally sat down to watch it last week. So what a year it's been for Will Ferrell. Few get him or his humor but you are getting a lot of him now, whether you like it or not, this, the latest in a long line of themed and hilarious comedy vehicles for the dead pan comic. When the producers of his last movie, 'Talladega Nights', pitched it all they had to say was: 'Will Ferrell does NASCAR, the redneck jokes writing themselves there and then. So why not Will Ferrell on Ice? Plot Outline In 2002, two rival Olympic ice skaters were stripped of their gold medals and permanently banned from men's single competition. A comedy about two men who join together to form the first ever all male ice skating pairs team sounds like a crazy idea. In fact it is a ludicrous idea but some how or other it works just because of that, even though Will Ferrell is someone I cannot abide at all in a starring role. Background The film is directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck and produced by Stuart Cornfield, John Jacobs and Ben Stiller. All the great costumes seen in the film are created by Julie Weiss.
