A comedy about two men who join together to form the first ever all male ice skating pairs team sounds like a crazy idea. In fact it is a ludicrous idea but some how or other it works just because of that, even though Will Ferrell is someone I cannot abide at all in a starring role. Will Ferrell is Chaz Michael Michaels, the bad boy of mens figure skating, his routine are audacious, raunchy and border on the obscene, but the crowds love him. Jon Heder is Jimmy MacElroy the boy wunderkind with his girly hair and near perfect dance routines when he is on the ice. I'll be honest and say I was a little dubious about watching this one after being really disappointed by another Will Ferrell outing, Talladega Nights. But since there was nothing else on my Amazon rentals list, I thought it was worth a go, so I sent off for Blades of Glory, and finally sat down to watch it last week. Blades of Glory tells the story of 2 Olympic skaters, Jimmy MacElroy and Chazz Michael Michaels. Both men are stripped of their gold medals and are banned from competing in Men's Singles competition for life after they have a fight on the podium. So what a year it's been for Will Ferrell. Few get him or his humor but you are getting a lot of him now, whether you like it or not, this, the latest in a long line of themed and hilarious comedy vehicles for the dead pan comic. When the producers of his last movie, 'Talladega Nights', pitched it all they had to say was: 'Will Ferrell does NASCAR, the redneck jokes writing themselves there and then. So why not Will Ferrell on Ice?
