Advantages: Good solid horror film., Some good moments., It's not The Blair Witch!

Disadvantages: Some dodgy dialogue., It's not The Blair Witch!

When Blair Witch 2 : Book Of Shadows came out at the cinema I wanted to see it but mainly just to see what they could do as a follow up. After reading many reviews, most of which panned it, I decided to wait. I eventually got around to watching it recently and I have to say I am glad I did.

This film is a lot more of a typical horror film compared to the first. It's the story set after the first film and is all about the hype it caused and the fans reaction. It's all about a group that decide to go on "The Blair Witch Hunt", a tour around the sites in the film. A couple are there to help in the writing of a book, one is a witch, one is just a gothic horror film fan and the last one is the tour leader, out for the money really though does have a shady past.

It's told in a sort of flashback way as you see what happened and also see the characters after the events. There's a lot more blood and gore in this film that the first and perhaps because of it it's not as scary. What it does manage to do though is keep the story and tension going and never gets dull.

It's not exactly original but it's certainly a lot better than most of the current teen horror films about (I Know What You Did Last Summer anyone?) and I think it has got the slating it has mainly because it is so different to the first film. It's not really fair to compare it to the first Blair Witch, as they are really totally different types of films.

It's a good horror film that deserves a little more interest than it has got.
