Let me start off by saying I've never read Bleak House, although not through lack of trying. Dickens has the unfortunate habit of writing very long novels and I've as yet failed to make it past page 200. Therefore this is a review of an independent TV programme rather than as an adaptation of a novel. It seems only fitting that such a long novel would get an adaptation lasting 8 hours, that's fourteen 30 minutes episodes and a further 1 hour episode. Needless to say they wanted to do this one justice, if only other books got the same treatment.
