There has been a rash of supernatural/religious horror films coming out of Hollywood lately including Stigmata, The exorcist, Sixth Sense and Rosemary’s Baby to name but a few. Joining these ranks is ‘Bless The Child’- a Religious Horror story of Good vs. Evil. The film is based on a book by Cathy Cash Spellman and put on to screen by Producer Mace Neufeld (1993 The Omen). Enrolling the talent of Chuck Russell as director, who had hits with The Mask (1994) and eraser (1998), it is obvious that the producer wanted to follow up on the success of the previous horror movie. This film is not a bad effort either and definitely left me with some discussions in ... Read the complete review

A friend of mine brought round some DVDs for me to borrow a few weeks ago, and I haven't yet watched them all. With daytime TV generally driving me nuts, I can quite often be found raking through the DVD cupboard looking for something else to watch! One of the DVDs on loan from my friend is "Bless the Child", and I opted to watch this yesterday, as there wasn't anything I wanted to watch on TV (as usual...!) I noted from the DVD cover that the film is approximately 103 minutes long, and settled back to watch the movie with a bag of sweeties by my side. :-D Don't worry, I won't give anything away in case you like the look of this film ... If I had to choose a genre of film which was my out and out favourite, it would be without question horror, especially the horror films that challenge your mind rather than an out and out gore fest. Ages ago, my wife bought me 'Bless The Child', but for some reason I have not got around to watching it until last night. It seems to one of the films in a long line of God versus Satan played out through a special person who is 'The Chosen One', such as 'Stigmata' and even Arnold Schwarznegger had a go when he took on Gabriel Byrne in 'End Of Days'. This time, the person who is the chosen one is a child, which is a slightly new approach to ... Read the complete review

Let's Get Ready To Rumbleeeeeeeeeeeeee! I hate this kind of apocalypse crap. It's Hollywood playing with the end of days theme again, tribulation time, when all club members are ready to go sit on a cloud and watch billions of other rival club members burn. Smoke 'em if you've got 'em. This time, the whole end of days business is bastardised to a point where it bares little resemblance to anything certain cults old and new believe in but instead gives you a plot where in Easter 2000, Satan will come party on down on old planet Earth unless stopped. No point worrying then peeps, Easter 2000 has gone already so I guess you know the ending of ... Read the complete review

Welcome Ladies and Gentlemen. And it's a pleasure to see so many of you here today. Later we will all sing hymn number 666, while our organist, Mrs Peacock, will pass round the collection plate to both of you. But first, we begin this week's sermon, which I have entitled "Christ and His Second Coming". Halleluiah! My parable begins with Kim Basinger. While returning home she is approached by a woman who points out the star in the sky and foretells of the coming of a great one. Could this be a prophet? Or just a nutter on a bus. We will never know. However, no sooner has our Kim walked through her front door than she is ... Read the complete review
