I first saw Takeshi Kitano's 3-4 x jūgatsu (aka Boiling Point not to be confused with the James B. Harris film with Wesley Snipes) by mistake about fifteen years ago. A friend of mine bought it thinking it was a John Woo style Hong Kong action film, despite the vaguely geographical similarity nothing could be further from the truth. Made in 1990 3-4 x jūgatsu/Boiling Point is a slow moving, wonderfully dark, brutal and often disturbingly funny Japanese gangster film.
