This is a review of the 2007 sequel to Stephen Kay's 2005 movie Boogeyman and should not be confused with a string of Boogeyman films released in the 1980s. As young children, Laura and Henry Porter witness the bloody murder of their parents at the hands of a faceless, hooded psychopath. Years later, in adulthood, they remain highly disturbed, but Henry has recovered far more than his sister due to a stint in a mental hospital, under the care of a respected psychiatric doctor named Dr Mitchell Allen. I hadn't seen the first Boogeyman so I wasn't sure whether watching the sequel first was a good idea, but it was on TV and I like my horror films so I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised as I thought this was going to be just another trashy teen slasher horror, but it turned out to have a bit more substance than I expected. The Boogeyman 2 was released 2007 but I don't remember it being on at the cinema so I thought it must be pretty bad to be on Freeview a year later. It's directed by Jeff Betancourt who also directed films in a similar genre such as The Grudge & The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, along with others like Get Over It. I wouldn't ...
