For those of you who know nothing of Chucky, let me fill you in on some of the details. Chucky was created as an innocent plaything – a child’s toy that could speak a handful of child-friendly, cute catchphrases. However, this particular Chucky doll underwent something of a metamorphosis when somehow, his artificial body was possessed by the spirit of an insane serial killer. With a new lease of life, the serial killer went about a new killing spree, in the form of the Chucky doll. A more frightening child’s toy you could never find. Such was the subject matter of two rather infamous horror films in the Child’s Play series that were extremely popular in the late ... Read the complete review

Psycho killer Charles "Chucky" lee Ray (Brad Dourif) was gunned down ten years ago by the police. As he was dying he used voodoo magic to transfer his soul into a doll, so he can carrying on with his killing spree. Of course Chucky’s only hope of escaping his new body is to find another human to exchange souls with. One stormy night Chucky's estranged ex-girlfriend Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly) rescues his remains from a bin and uses a voodoo spell to bring him back to life so to speak. Things don’t however go to plan for poor Tiffany who has marriage on her mind, as Chucky electrocutes her and she too ends up with her soul trapped inside a doll. ... Read the complete review

The Child?s Play films started off in 1988, telling the tale of a Good Guy doll gone very, very bad. It spawned two more sequels, Child?s Play 2 in 1990 and Child?s Play 3 in 1993. It also seemed to go out in style. Child?s Play 3 is now the infamous film that is often referred to as the spark that set off the Bulger killers. It was subsequently banned from the UK despite already having a BBFC 18 rating. Once again media hysteria had won over common sense. Since then the Child?s Play 3 ban has been lifted (though the video is still deleted in the UK) and also Bride of Chucky was released in 1998. Around that time horror movies were fashionable again thanks ... Read the complete review

Ok, first of all I have to admit to not watching the first 3 (or was it 4?) of the chucky series and just skipped to this one. There was no reason for it, I have just seen some good reviews around that got me interested and there it was in front of me in the shop. It was either ‘Kevin & Perry Go Large’ or this, and having already seen Kev & Perry getting up to loads of stuff in Ibiza, I thought I’d check this one out! So, not having seen the first few Chucky’s, I was wondering if I would really get what was going on in this film. I knew what the whole Chucky thing was about, but didn’t really know what went on in the films. ... Read the complete review

This is the fourth outing for Chucky - the friendly talking kids toy inhabited by the soul of a mass murderer. Our foul-mouthed hero was destroyed at the end of the third film, but not to worry because his girlfriend (played by Jennifer Tilley) is going to rescue him. Having rescued what remains of Chucky and sown him back together she tries to raise him from the dead using Voodoo for Dummies (never seen that one in Smiths!!). Once he’s back, Chucky begins by killing Tilley’s new boyfriend. When things don’t go quite the way she planned, Tilley decides to lock Chucky up. The doll, resourceful as kids toys normally are, manages to escape from ... Read the complete review
