Advantages: Some funny moments
Disadvantages: Bit limited at times
Bride Wars is a bit of a chick flick and an enjoyable one as well, not the greatest film you will ever see but certainly not the worst. It has some nice moments and the comedy will make you smaile at times but there were few laugh out loud moments in my opinion.
Liv played by Kate Hudson and Emma played by Anne Hathaway have been lifelong best friends and as little girls they always dreamed of having the perfect wedding and they both wanted the same venue, The Plaza. As grown ups their lives have taken different paths, Emma is a school teacher while Liv is a lawyer, Emma has been in a long term relationship of ten years with Fletcher while Lv is with Daniel. Getting engaged at the same time they both employ the same wedding planner played by Candice Bergman however a mess up with the bookings sees them both with the same wedding day at the same venue and that is when the battles commence.
Most of the comedy comes from their ever escalating attempts to sabotage each others special day and it soon becomes a battle of wits and devious actins. Both actresses adat well to the comedy requirements of their lead roles especially Hathaway who tends o do more serious work while Hudson is more commonly found in this fluffy stuff.
The three women dominate the film and for once it is the males who are just there for show in fact both male actors are noticable by the fact that they failed to make any impact on me.
Overall this was an enjoyable film that is nice easy watching with a few laughs but nothing to have you rolling in the aisles.
