Advantages: Good acting and a good laugh

This fabulous romp is about 2 best friends- Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson.
The film starts with images of them as little girls playing weddings together with their dolls and dressing up. The girls grow up together and stay together through thick and thin until finally their boyfriends propose. Candice Bergen plays the illustrious wedding planner and is amazing in the role. A simple error means the venue of choice has been booked so that both of them will get married on the same day.
The film continues on by having the two brides to be battling in an attempt to get the other bride to pull out so they can have the venue to themselves and their dream day.
The viewer is left wondering whether or not the 2 will ever be friends again- is the perfect day really that important?
With Hollywood being the main reason for fancy weddings these days the film does lack a bit of modernity. People still have the big weddings but the stigma of living with someone out of wedlock is gone so the idea of 2 girls fighting it out is a little extreme.
Also the ways of trying to outdo each other seem a little bit petty and for the most part would not put off the determined characters. In other terms the script isn't brilliant but it is an enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half.

It made for a great night out with the girls and will do the same for a night in with the vino and ben and jerrys. Men will almost certainly hate it- (*that is if they hate chick flicks)

Summary: Don't rush to get it but its amusing to watch
