Advantages: Downright entertaining and so funny you'll be in tears, British!
Disadvantages: If any music could have gone on for full length of tracks, slightly rude
I've just got back from my Sister's house having now seen the rented Video of Bridget Jones' Diary. I thought I'd take this opportuinity to update my original opinion of when I saw it at the Cinema! I got a perception, hearing whispers around me, that this film had provoked ?some kind of reaction? at the time. I don?t wonder had it! Not since British comedy like ?Fawlty towers? have I been forced to laugh until tears run down my cheeks! If the leading Actress really is American, then she really is too good to be true! This is a superb movie that will have you relating, male or female, to the scenarios and situations that it depicts. Real British humour has the unique quality of taking the **ss out of situations and causing you to burst into some sort of fit, either emotionally or physically! I can almost admit to being brought to tears by some funny moments in this movie! It really is a very good film indeed, so much so that it?s very difficult to fault in any guise. I would have liked the excellent musical themed sections to have been more complete, since the music in any movie helps us relate in real time to what we have watched. It?s downright rude in places too, but not in a way that is unforgiving. We British can always get away with it somehow, I guess. We?ve all attempted to keep ?some sort? of diary in our lives, and although the film is aptly titled it?s really about a typical girls life and what fate tends to play upon us all. We can relate to this so much, it?s the kind of entertainment that will be loved. Well the video did go down well too with most of the (adult) family. So rent this one out when you can! A must see!

- 09/06/01 I went with my best mate and he has since described it as "quite funny". Although I heard him laughing away during it - think he's just trying to be "manly"! I cried laughing and giggled most of the way through. Good op. |

- 28/04/01 Don't worry ed. your secrets safe with me. It's true though, a fight scene that is polite! Now how can you make a movie with one of those? I don't know but they really did!
Let me know what you think bigmama when you've seen it. |
