Three years after Pixar shot to fame and success with Toy Story they released A Bug's Life in 1999. Although maybe not quite as good as Toy Story it is still fantastic and you can't really fault this animated feature length movie. If you love these sort of movies as I do then I'm sure you will not be disappointed by this effort.

The story in this particular movie surrounds a colony of ants on an island that have to spend the vast majority of their time gathering food to offer to the grasshoppers that they are terrified of led by Hopper. One of the ants is called Flick and he is the main character in this story. He has all sorts of ideas that might make things easier for his friends and family. He comes up with invention after invention but nothing seems to work. Unfortunately his latest hair brained scheme lands the ants in alot of trouble when it backfires meaning they have nothing to offer the grasshoppers. Hopper is furious and states that he wants twice as much food by the end of the summer or else. Flick believe the ants should stand up and fight so he sets off and leaves the island in search of some warrior bugs to help him and this is where his adventure begins. But for him things go wrong again when he returns with a bunch of circus ants who are no real use to anyone.

As with most animated movies they are normally funny and this was no exception to that rule. There were some hilarious moments throughout as we laugh at Flick and his new buddies as they attempt to save the colony from the threat of the grasshoppers. If you enjoyed Toy Story then you will also love this I would say and it's well worth going out and buying as it's fun for the whole family.
