 ... fame). He was apparently pretty depressed about appearing in the film; his melancholy performance may reflect that, but it's effective whatever the reason. The cannibal Nam vets are good in a completely OTT way, especially Giovanni Radice (who was good at this kind of thing - he's castrated in explicit detail in Cannibal Ferox). Here he comes across as almost a low-budget De Niro, with an intense, Travis Bicklesque turn. A review of the Studio Canal DVD. This is a video nasty from 1980. In 1978 Romero's Dawn of the Dead made a huge impact in Italy. There followed a slew of Italian zombie and cannibal movies which replaced Romero's satire and despair with gore - and plenty of it. This is one of them.
