Frantic jungle noises are dubbed onto the soundtrack (including one birdsong noise that's repeated interminably). The acting is dreadful, if you can even call it acting. All the actors were dubbed later, and the attempts of the voice artists to match their dialogue with the lip movements result in some astonishingly garbled line readings - human speech has never sounded so unnatural. A review of the Shriek Films DVD. Cannibal films were a popular horror sub-genre in the early 80s. They were Italian, usually set (and filmed) in the Amazon, and contained plenty of gut munching, sexual violence and real-life animal killing. Not, perhaps, the classiest films ever made. But even though the likes of Cannibal Ferox can't have been expensive to begin with, they still inspired lower-budget rip-offs. Cannibal Terror, from 1981, is one such film.
