I am perhaps the wrong person to be reviewing this remake of Cape Fear, considering I am yet to see the original. But, truth be told, I cannot contain my excitement at this point in time having just witnessed one of the most misanthropically demonic and psychologically disturbing performances of a cinema antagonist, ever. As I write this my hands are shaking, and the haunting presence of the film's score still lingers around my receding hairline- I am completely overwhelmed. (Breathes) Ok. Anyways, I thought I would write this review now, given the full mood of my fascination for the subject; I have just spent the last two hours feeling disturbingly ... Read the complete review

More diligent / bored readers may have noticed two things: 1) That I claimed I would be reviewing Christmas TV movies, and 'Cape Fear' isn't on. 2) That my last review gave a clear indication that I was intending to review 'Lord of the Rings'. Well, I have a floppy disk which has some fine Christmas TV movie reviews on it, only it's currently in Munich (went with a friend, only it wasn't supposed to), and my fabulous 'Lord of the Rings' review is on my laptop, which is in Mrs Lazenby's car (well, she assures me she's taken it out now). Mrs Lazenby is, needless to say, in London until Sunday. ... Read the complete review

Saw this film, at the cinema in 1991, nearly jumped out of my seat and hit the ceiling several times (this a film you really need to watch with surround sound). This is a top notch thriller, Robert De Niro plays released from prison pyschopath Max Cady who is determined to avenge his 14 year prison sentence (rape and aggrivated battery)on th Lawyer (Nick Nolte)who he knows withheld a vital piece of evidence that could have got him off (he did do it though!). De Niro persues Nolte and his family, but never does anything that can be pinned to him, he gets more and more scary and sinister - trying to seduce Noltes daughter (a brilliant Juilette Lewis, who ... Cape fear the remodelled version is totally brilliant, in my opinion one of the best thrillers of all time. Starring robert de niro, jessica lange and nick nolte. Another great movie from the lens of martin scorsese. robert de niro plays the deranged max cady, who feels he was imprisoned due to his lawyers incompetence (sam bowden played by nick nolte). After 14 years in prison he is released and sets about terrifying his ex attorneys family. Jessica lange plays sams wife and his daughter is played by juliette lewis. The showdown on the houseboat is truly amazing effects are spectacular. Another quite horrific part is where mad max cady dates and entraps ... Read the complete review
