Advantages: Great version of an American classic.

Disadvantages: Set in the hot and steamy South....you may need to watch with a drink in your hand.

Elizabeth Taylor is at her womanly best, as Maggie (the cat on a hot tin roof)...she is very beautiful but past her girlie stage, and her screen pressence is quite breathtaking.

Paul Newman is so handsome, it ought to be illegal!

This film, based on a Tennessee Williams story, is set in the deep South of America. A family gathers to hear if Big Daddy (the family Patriach), played by Burl Ives, is really dying...and if he is...who gets his power and money...

The steamy Southern setting is beautifully portrayed on screen...you can feel the heat and humidity as clearly as the characters do....

The supporting actors are as impressive as the lead actors and Madeleine Sherwood as Mae ("Sisterwoman") and mother of the "no neck brats" is a particular joy.
