Advantages: Some good scenes
Disadvantages: Not funny enough, Childish beyond expectations, Too american
Cats and Dogs is the new childrens comedy\action movie by director Larry Guterman. It is a live animation movie about the great animal relationship between cats and dogs. Well the story is pretty simple really. We have a faily home which has a dog. The dog gets kidnapped by cats. It all sounds a bit silly and infact it is. The film is done in an impossible mission style. The dogs have a secret service who promote dogs to do missions. A new comer dog gets assigned to replace the kidnapped dog. The house is important because its owner Professor Brody (Jeff Goldblum) is trying to discover a cure for a dog allergy. The dog world want a cure because it means that dogs will start to rule the animal world instead of cats. Cats and Dogs has an all star cast. Some of the stars are Jeff Goldblum, Elizabeth Perkins, Alexander Pollock, Alec Baldwin and Tobey Maguire. I have to admit to being very disappointed by Jeff Goldblum. He is way below average and doesnt seem to get to grips with his role. Special mention has to be give to the leaders of the cats and dogs. The head of the dog is named Buchh and the head of the cats is Mr Tinkles. There are some entertaining scenes in this movie. There is a good ninja scene where cat ninja's attack the family home. However the movie does not live up to expectations. There are some funny moments but overall the film is simply not funny enough. It is billed as comedy for children and adults but to be honest it is too childish to impress adults. Lots of the humour is very american as well. An average film that I was hoping would be a good laugh and entertaining.
