This Stephen King anthology film makes a nice companion piece to Romero's stab at the Master from Maine's back catalogue - the redoubtable 'Creepshow' (Which I've recently also reviewed on here). This one was made three years after 'Creepshow', but seems, weirdly, much more dated. This is not necessarily a bad thing, though, and the TV movie vibe, with the loud jackets and penny loafers (not to mention a diminutive Drew Barrymore) is comforting to anyone who watched a lot of films and TV in the 'eighties. But I digress! On to the plot! A cat called "General" crosses the city to protect a young girl, Amanda, from a breath-stealing troll. ... Read the complete review

Being a cat lover, I bought Cats Eye from a second hand video shop. The movie itself is yet another movie based on a Stephen King movie but I must say, I have seen better Stephen King movies. I was expecting a good horror movie but was disappointed because, there isn’t a great deal of horror in it! Although, the film does include some life-threatening situations, these are not the kind I would expect from a good old fashioned horror movie. The movie itself is based on three stories but rather than being horror stories, I would say that these stories are more based around the bad nature of humans than about terror. The purpose of the movie is to see ... Read the complete review

Cats Eye is one of Stephen King's low budget movie offerings from the mid 80s. Its actually quite a good movie, although no doubt it would have faded into obscurity were it not for the authors name being attached to it rather conspicously on the video cover. Personally I am glad that its still around because, whilst not being the best example of his work, it does have some truly great scenes. Cats Eye is actually three stories linked together rather losely by the ever present figure of a cat. In fact the stories are completely unrelated other than through the cat's presence, but I suppose thats one way of making a movie rather than three television ... Read the complete review

I believe cats eye is a very underrated film. I think its 1 of the better films of the 80s and the 1st film I ever really took to when I was little (cos of my dads addiction to low budget 80s action films I ended up loving them as well). Some people feel that all 3 stories are a bit disjointed with the cat playing minor, but key, roles in the 1st 2 stories and a major role in the last (fighting and defeating a troll) It starts with the cat being chased by a dog to a dockside factory and being transported to New York city (nearly getting run over by Christine - the car from the horror film of the same name) The cat sees an image of the ... Cropping up occasionally on TV, this low key anthology is one of the few truly entertaining horror movies based on works by Stephen King. It is made up of three stories, two of which (Quitters Inc and The Ledge) are based on short stories from the Night Shift anthology. They are linked by a cat, hence the name. This is a cute device which keeps the movie rolling without to much bother. The first story is a blackly humourous story about a company which specialises in getting people to quit smoking - at any cost! The second (and best) segment follows James Woods as a compulsive gambler who is forced to bet his life on whether he can travel round a ... Read the complete review
