I went through a recent phase of watching Asian revenge / horror films, and was recommended to give this one a try. At first glance I didn't see how it made sense - this is a film starring Rupert Everett. However, it soon becomes clear what it's all about (or not as the case may be). Cemetery Man is about a man who works in an, err, cemetery. His job includes killing the dead for a second time when they awaken as zombies. Now, despite that basic description, this is nothing like your average zombie flick, in fact it's nothing like anything at all! The film is a weird, stylised niche market film. Cemetery Man (aka Dellamorte Dellamore) is a wonderfully surreal, horror, comedy, love story from Italian director Michele Soavi. This is not a zombie film although the undead feature quite heavily, it is more of a philosophical discourse on the nature of life and the duality of death and love "dellamore" meaning "of love" and "dellamorte" meaning "of death". Rupert Everett plays Francis Dellamorte caretaker of the local cemetery (get it, he's called "of death" and he looks after a cemetery) in the small Italian town of Buffalora.
