Disadvantages: They don't pay YOU to watch it!
Beore I start I feel I must apologise if this opinion is a little bit short. Anyone who has read any of my other opinions will be used to me being a little bit long winded but if I have any fans out there you will soon start to notice that this is only the case for things I DON'T like and boy did I not like this movie (that and the fact that it's been about 2 years since I first saw this film and I only watched it once). So anyway, on to the flick. Charlies Angels was probably the final movie in a string of Hollywood 60's, 70's and 80's revivals (not including the forthcoming Incredible Hulk movie) and it certainly matched most of the others (The Saint and The Avengers are the only one's I can think of right now) in terms of both it's downright badness and it's failed attempts at recapturing the nostalgic value from the original series. In fact I'd say the only successful movie I'm aware of that was originally based on an old TV series (again not including superheros e.g. Batman) would be 'The Fugitive'. I'll be honest in saying that I can't really remember the plot of the movie and that's probably because I've erased it from my memory to make room for some more useful information like how to make an oragami Yoda for example. The cast includes Lucy Lui of Ali McBeal fame, Cameron Diaz of There's Something About Mary and Drew Barrymore who's best performance to date I'd say was probably in ET before she knew HOW to act badly. There are also cameo appearences by wacky improv' comedian Tom Green and 'Cameos in bad movies' veteran Bill Murray, both of whom should probably add something to improve the movie but don't. It's not so much the acting in this movie that makes it wreak of badness so much as the scriptwriting and the dialog with none of the 3 leads coming up with anything remotely witty or clever betwe
en them. The action scenes are totally unbelievable with all 3 girls performing stunts that make movies and TV shows such Xenia and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which are SUPPOSED to be OTT, look as realistic as Schindlers List. The only good thing about this movie is seeing Cameron Diaz in sexy outfits and dancing about in her pants, in fact if the movie was nothing BUT Cameron Diaz dancing about in her pants for an hour and a half it would probably improve this movie a hundred fold. So there you have it. To summarise I suggest you avoid Charlies Angels at all costs as, if it wasn't for the fact that I saw it for free, I would probably be really depressed that I had wasted both my time AND my money viewing this piece of trash.
