Advantages: Good, strong second season

Disadvantages: Not as good as future seasons

Here, we see Prue (Shannen Doherty), Piper (Holly Marie Combs) and Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) return to our screens for a second season of the gripping tale of three sister witches known as the Charmed ones. Again, we see them trying to find a way to have successful real lives, whilst ensuring they carry out their charmed duties.
The season gets off to a promising start with the episode 'Witch Trial' where the sisters must try to get the return of the 'book of shadows' (Their sacred book that contains generations of spells and information on demons and warloks). Prue, still reeling from the death of her childhood sweetheart, Andy (the cop) struggles with some of her inner demons, however, we see them coming out on top in the end.
This season has trips to the future in the second episode, 'Morality Bites', where we get a glimpse of what the future charmed ones would be like. It's gripping storyline has us wondering if the girl's will manage to return to their present lives before Phoebe gets executed for a crime that she has committed in the future. It soon unfolds however that they were sent there by the Elders in order to learn something.
This season also reveals how the sisters' mother, Paddy, died in the episode "P3 H2O". We also meet Sam, Paddy's white-lighter and also her past love, giving Piper more faith in her relationship with their white-lighter, Leo.
As well as travels to the future, we get a glimpse of the past in this season. In the episode "pardon my past", Phoebe returns to try and save her present life from a curse that was set upon her in the past. The race is on to save her before her birthday and the past demon escapes into the present life, leaving Phoebe stuck in the past, however, the good is victorious and Phoebe is saved.
This season sees fictional character's coming to life, as well as the presence of ghost's stuck in this plane with unfinished business to carry out. It comes to a head in the final episode of this season, where the arrival of a genie brings trouble for the girls. "Be careful what you witch for" brings about the death of Prue, and so the race is on to reverse the magic of the genie and save the life of Prue.
A great second season in my opinion, with gripping story lines and the introduction to new characters (Dan and Jenny - The sisters' new neighbors, and Piper's new love interest).
