Toys are evil. They can change the way people act and think, making once normal and rational people act like people possessed. Who can forget the craze for Buzz Lightyear or the Furby’s or those damned Tamagotchi’s? Making parents queue for hours on end, selling their souls just to make their kids happy on Christmas day then for the toy to sit and gather dust all the other days of the year. Of course some toys are really, really evil. Chucky the not-so-nice doll, for example, isn’t the kind of toy you’d leave your kid to play with because Chucky doesn’t play nice at all. The Child’s Play begins on a dark night where Mike Norris (Chris Sarandon) is in ... Read the complete review

Child's Play is an excellent slasher movie that introduced Earth to the world of killer dolls. It also introduced us to Chucky, the king of murderous play things.Child's play has the unnerving ability of playing on many young childrens (adults too, as we were once there) fear of "what if...my toy doll was actually alive". Andy's new bithday present is far from the innocent, wholesome idea of good simple child's play, this doll in particular has other ideas, ideas which involve a couple of murders and the eventual possesion of it's young owners body. The acting is brilliant. Brad Dourif is devilishly good as the voice of Chucky. The human actors ... Read the complete review

This is just a fantastic set of films...inpicting the murders of a serial killer trapped in the body of a childs doll. In this film he terrorises the life of a small boy, killing people and ruining his house. The concept of these films has an impact on everyone the innocence of a doll mixed with the evil nature of this cold-blooded murderer. This film is a start to a whole range of films leading up to those brought out today. When i was younger this was one of the first horrors people told me about. This movie is addictive, if you can rent it out now then rent out the rest. ... Read the complete review

This is the movie to blame for Chucky and all his rip-offs. Though diminished slightly by time (it doesn't seem as good as it did in 1989, for some reason...), this is still an above average horror movie, with some imagination behind it! Directed by Tom Holland (who directed Fright Night, whose Chris Sarandon appears here as a sympathetic cop), this movie opens with Charles Lee Ray, a notorious voodoo serial killer, getting trapped and killed in a toy warehouse. Before he dies, however, he transfers his soul to a Good Guy doll - a kind of Cabbage Patch kid. Cut to the main plot, where a single mother is trying to get a decent birthday present for her ...
