Advantages: Some ok action scenes
Disadvantages: Poor acting
For me this turned out to be a rather average action thriller and to be honest I did not expect a great deal when I saw that the two lead characters were Cuba Gooding and someone called Skeet Ulrich who I had never heard of and find it quite hard to take seriously with a first name like that.
Skeet plays Tim Mason who is a shop assistant while Gooding plays an ice cream van driver called Arlo, both are in dead end jobs yet find themselves in possession of a deadly chemical weapon given to them by a scientist and they are being hunted down by a group of mercenaries led by a disgraced former Colonel Andrew Brynner played by Peter Firth, to keep the weapon intact they also need to keep it cold, it it reaches a certain temperature it will explode wiping out many thousands of people.
In a way the plot is a little like Speed except in this movie it is temperature rather than miles per our which is the key and Arlo being an ice cream van driver is ideally placed to keep it cool but not to deal with former soldiers.
To be honest the plot is a little absurd and while there are a few decent action scenes the whole film is rather predictable and struggled to hold my attention.
You would expct to get some light hearted moments with Gooding in the film but these are delivered in a ham fisted Bad Boys rip off style which just does not work as neither of the leads are good enough to carry a movie either on their own or together.
Not a film I would recommend as it is worth two stars at best.
