In something of a new stance for film, Chopper is a film from down-under that is almost a biographical view of a serial killers 'career' if that's what you can call it!
Using a series of flashbacks a memories, the film does a very intriguing and at times intense job of getting the viewer into the thought and mindset of the killer himself ? namely Mark Reed.

Chopper is very grim and forbidding, but does a really interesting job at conveying reed to the viewer, and his cocky and swaggering personality. Starting with his stretch on the inside, we he his relationship progress with the guards, then we see his release and life on the outside in freedom, which is equally rough and forceful. Starting out as a small time crook, gradually progressing to big time crimes in the seeking of attention and recognition, Chopper became one of the most vulgar and deadly hillers in the history of Australia.
Eric Bana in his debut role does a remarkable job, giving a complete and un-deniably sublime performance fitting into the role so naturally and eloquently you'd think he'd play this kind of role all his life. For a big screen actor with such little experience, this is one actor to look out for in the future. In the name of the character, Eric bana (rumour has it) even moved in and LIVED with Chopper Reed himself for two days in order to learn more about him and get to know the character - not that's dedication!

Directed by Andrew Dominic, this film is highly original, and one of the few things to come out of Australia (movie wise) that can hold its own. The film is stylish and progressive and unlike anything I have seen for some time making it a fully warranted viewing.
Now available on DVD (released on 19th march), of you don?t have this, I would suggest you give it at least a rental, and while its by no means disturbing, its certainly connecting to the character that is chopper Reed.

Winning the 2000 Australian film in
stitute best film award, I can certainly see why, and urge you to check it out!

Good op and you covered most of it but a paragraph on actors and their performances would make it that little bit better. Steve
