Seeing as I try to avoid most TV shows and am anything but an expert on British film, most of the cast in last year's Circus were new to me. Famke Jannsen and Fred Ward were the only two I was at all familiar with, but both give very good performances. Circus is a crime thriller, a twisting tale of confused and conflicting loyalties. Probably better not described a a comedy, the film still has plenty of entertaining moments, and is funny and plain silly in places -- but all the time rooted in a sensible, if hardly believable and confusing, base story. Circus is probably one of the more clever films that I have seen in a while! It stars John Hannah as Leo Garfield (a conman/gambler) and Famke Jannsen as his wife, Lily (she is from America and fled because of a robbery where she ripped off her partner!). It has a pretty good "star" suporting cast too, including Brian Conley, Peter Stormare and (my favourite) Eddie Izzard (although he really isn't in it much!) So the story then!
