The film is an early 90s martial arts comedy based on a character from a manga (Japanese comic), which also had a long running anime series (Japanese animation). City Hunter is the nickname of a perverted private detective, Ryu Saeba (Jackie Chan). Ryu has a female sidekick Kaori (Joey Wang) whom keeps Ryu in line. The plot follows Ryu as he takes on an assignment to locate and retrieve Shizuko (Kumiko Goto), runaway daughter of a rich Japanese businessman but Ryu ends up following her onto a luxury cruise ship with many prestigious passengers, beautiful women, oh and an army of terrorists led by MacDonald (Richard Norton). Among the stars appearing in this 1992 Hong Kong action flick are Jackie Chan and Richard Norton ? two high profile actors that even they could not gain this very impressive movie the wide-spread recognition it craved and deserved. Well appreciated in Hong Kong, for some reason this film never really hit the heights in the US and UK like it should.
