Advantages: Silly, fun, very funny and delicious

Disadvantages: Mabye became a little too silly towards the end

Ever since he was a small child, Flint Lockwood has dreamed of becoming a world famous inventor. But his neighbours in the small town of Swallow Falls despair of him as his remote controlled TV and rat-birds, to name a few, cause nothing but hassle. But when Flint finally makes an invention that actually works as it should, he receives the fame he's always dreamed of. His food making machine is a roaring success when it produces all sorts of delicious foods to fall from the sky. Flint's invention also benefits weather intern Sam Sparks, who witness the spectacle and gets her big break - her first report shows signs of cheeseburger rain.

But with the residents of Swallow Falls continuously ordering their favourite dishes, the food, as well as the people, keep getting bigger and bigger. Eventually Flint realises he's bitten off more than he can chew when he can no longer control the food, and he and Sam must give up their dreams in order to save the town.

This is a brilliant movie for kids, including very young children. The style of animation is very simplistic with the characters, buildings, landscape and food all looking very simple yet being very bright and colourful to draw in younger children. All the different types of food raining down from the skies was great to watch and I'm sure would be much more exciting and fun for younger kids.

I went to see this film with hubby, my little sister and my cousins and we range in age from 13 to 23 and we all loved it. It's one of those perfect children's movies which are also great for adults and older children as it contained so many funny moments that had all of us laughing out loud throughout. Whether it was the typical African American phrases and actions coming from the policeman who was voiced by Mr. T, the silly moments which came from Sam (perfect for Anna Faris) or the complete lack of knowledge of anything not relating to inventions and science from Flint, there were plenty of moments and lines throughout that had us all in stitches.

All of the voices for every character were perfect and each character prominently stood out as having their own individual personality.

The main part of the film is, of course, the food. Despite it being animation and not real food on the screen, I can say that without a doubt it still made me very hungry and wanting to gorge on junk food for days! Cheeseburgers, pizza, spaghetti, sandwiches, pancakes, macaroni cheese, a full English breakfast, ice cream, doughnuts, jelly - the list is endless of the food which came raining down from the sky. Although my sister did point out that she didn't notice any chocolate which I'm sure would be the first thing many people would think of if they wanted some food to fall from the sky! The best part was the jello mountain which Flint and Sam used as a giant bouncy castle and took bites out of whilst jumping up and down. I would so love to have a jello mountain - that would be the most fun and tasty bouncy castle in the world! Although mine would have to be strawberry!

The film did get a little silly towards the end - OK I know that food falling from the sky is also silly but they made this part sound very realistic and like it could actually happen by including a few scientific terms which no one would actually understand unless there was a child prodigy in the audience! But there just seemed to be one thing after another towards the end to keep the food coming when they were trying to stop it and, when the food began to attack those trying to stop it, this was what made it very silly with chicken breasts trying to attack Flint and nachos shooting after them like aeroplanes.

Apart from that though, I absolutely loved this film. As I said, it is perfect for all children, both younger and older, and fantastic fun for adults too.

This film is also available in 3D which I'm sure would be super fun as there were so many moments with the food falling from the sky which I'd have thought would be brilliant in 3D.
