Advantages: Can't be beaten within it's genre in my opinion, Great Casting, Feel-good

Disadvantages: Over too soon!

Written and directed by Amy Heckerling, 1995

Stars: Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, Stacy Dash and Paul Rudd

Protagonist Cher (Silverstone) and her best friend, Dion (Dash) are the most popular girls in school - a position not hindered by the size of Daddy?s wallet, I?m sure.
Cher?s mother died when she was a baby, ?during a routine liposuction?, which gives you a clue to the film?s sense of humour! Therefore she lives with her lawyer father and housekeeper, as well as ex-step brother Josh (Rudd), who is a ?total Baldwin? (gorgeous guy), visiting from time to time.
A new arrival to the high school, Tai (Brittany Murphy) is pronounced ?clueless? by Cher and adopted into her social circle. Tai is soon made-over and preened into perfection, and an incident at the mall ensures Tai becomes the most popular girl in the school, and Cher decides she?s created a monster. Add failing her driving test and realising her love for someone you may, or may not expect, Cher realises that she is the one who is totally ?Clueless?.

A fun, feel good chick flick, which was the fore-runner in the teen flick genre. The film conforms to the romantic comedy/chick flick/teen high school genre, with sharp dialogue, fantastic casting and complimentary sub-plots such as Dion and boyfriend Murray?s ever dramatic relationship. In my opinion, Silverstone is yet to match the success of ?Clueless?, while Paul Rudd is currently featuring in ?Friends? as Phoebe?s boyfriend. But Brittany Murphy has arguably had the most success post ?Clueless?, recently starring in ?Just Married? and ?8 Mile?.

Okay, so I?m sure we all know high school is nothing like the hilarious, fun, action
packed adventure it promises to be, in real life, but who cares? It wouldn?t really be much fun if we swapped Miss Guist for an evil dragon woman, would it?!! So if you?re a fan of escapism, and a good laugh, put ?Clueless? on your list.

I l
ove Clueless, it really is a fantastic feel good comedy, with superb actors and a brilliant soundtrack. It is one film I can easily watch again, and again.

See it if... you love chick flicks, are up for a laugh and a film worth staying in for.
Avoid it if... perhaps male? I?m yet to find a (straight) male fan! But please correct me if I?m wrong!

Cheers, Kirsty xx
