To many people the 80s conjures memories of male singers dressed as ladies backed by electronic drums or, in my case, watching ‘Rainbow’ and weeing my pants in playgroup that one time, but to a large proportion of the world’s population it was the decade of He-Man, Conan and various other muscular warriors fighting evil sorcerors in fantasy worlds. In 1986, Dino DeLaurentiis and Edward Pressman decided to produce a sequel to their 1982 hit film ‘Conan the Barbarian’ that was certain to be a box office success among Dungeons & Dragons players and regular cinemagoers alike for one reason: Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, as has been seen countless times since, the ... Read the complete review

this was the sequel to the original film Conan the Barbarian, the original idea being that a new film would come out every couple of years, much like the James Bond series. In this film we see Conan, living as the king of thieves, employed to take a young girl to retrieve a key, needed to awaken the Dreaming God. Conan is convinced to do this by the promise that the Dreaming God will give him back Valeria from the dead (who died in the first film). Conan is ultimately betrayed and must save the day when Dagoth, the Dreaming God, awakens and is a monster. This film is a real let down after the original, which felt epic whilst you watched it, ... Following the success of Conan the Barbarian in 1982, 1984 saw the sequel, Conan the Destroyer, with Arnold Schwarzenegger once again taking the lead role. The film was toned down a little to attract wider and younger audiences than Barbarian did, and it was released in the same year as Terminator, which is perhaps Arnie's most famous role. The Plot Queen taramis summons legendary fighter Conan to her in order to send him to retrieve a special gem and a magic horn that will give life back to the God Dagoth. Conan leads a band of adventurers on the quest, and encounters his old friend Akiro the wizard as well as some other friends and foes. Wondering ... Read the complete review

This sequel to Conan the Barbarian has just been released on Region 2 DVD. This film has a more comic book feel to it than the first film and has a bit more humour, it certainly has more action sequences. The story follows Conan and his companions on a quest to help bring a dead God back to life and so win the resurrection of his lost love Valaria (who died in the first film). It has elements taken from the original Conan novels to make up the story and is general Sword and Sorcery fare,, and although it is not as dark as the original with its tale revenge, it is still a worthy sequel. The picture is very good and is presented in 2.35:1 ... Read the complete review

This movie is the sequel to "Conan the Barbarian" and, as with most sequels, isn't up to par with the first. But still, it is a fun film to watch and has many exciting scenes. I prefer to watch it in conjunction with "Conan the Barbarian", but it does stand on it's own as well. This movie has a great cast besides Arnold. They are: Grace Jones, Wilt Chamberlain, Mako, Tracy Walter, Sarah Douglas and Olivia D'abo. Andre` the Giant has a cameo role as the re-animated horned giant statue. Grace Jones is a riot in this movie. I saw her on some shows promoting this film when it came out and she told stories of how ... Read the complete review
