Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: wrong storyline
I am going to start by saying that I find this film rubbish, however this is because I have read the book. So please read what I have to say as I do have some mixed views.
The film is about Rebecca Bloomwood a gardening journalist who has an addiction to shopping, she decides she needs a new career and goes for a job in financial journalism, she ends up being a great hit, then she falls for her boss, looses her job, auctions off all her buys, falls out with her best friend. Then it all pieces back together.
Now I understand that when making a film out of a book, its hard to hit all the key points and follow the story entirely. An example would be Harry Potter, the filsm do not quite grasp it all, but most of the juice is there. Now confessions of a shopaholic, the only thing the film and book have in common is her addictio to shopping the rest is a complete shambles. I actually took the dvd back to HMV because i thought it was so poor.
Now I would recommend the film to anybody who has not read the book, as it is funny, there are some hot outfits, its good! But for anybody who loves the book, avoid it!
DVD can be found in HMV for £8, not too pricey, however Id recommend £4 for the book! Much better!
Summary: Good if you have not read the book!
