Advantages: good film
Disadvantages: extras are boring
Sometimes there is absolutely nothing to watch on television, so you look for a video or a DVD to watch instead. Last week when the weather was dull I decided to watch Coyote Ugly. It is a romantic comedy. I borrowed the dvd off my sister, and I had never seen the film before. It follows a teenage girl named violet who leaves the country to go and start a new life in New York. She wants to follow in her mothers footsteps to become a songwriter. She says goodbye to her dad and her friends and finds herself a flat in the city and she doesn't have any money. Violet starts sending tapes of her music to various companys but without success. Her flat gets robbed and she is desperate for money. Shy innocent Violet manages to get herself a job as a barmaid in a bar called Coyote Ugly. But this is no ordinary bar. Coyotes (barmaids) spend their time dancing along the bar and spinning bottles like in the film Cocktail. Violet falls in love with Australian Kevin who tries to help her out with her dream to become a famous songwriter. I don't want to give too much away about the film because it will spoil it for those of you who have not seen it before. But it is a good film, which I really enjoyed watching. Its got everything that you could want from a chic flick. A girl going out to follow her dreams, she falls in love, has lots of laughs and it has a happy ending too. The film is rated as a 12. It has some violence and nudity in the film but nothing too much. The film runs for about 97 minutes. Some of the cast are well known actors. It stars Piper Perabo as Violet Sanford John Goodman as Bill Sanford (dad) Adam Garcia as Kevin It also stars Leanne Rimes as herself. The DVD case has a picture of the coyotes on the front and oyote Ugly written in red letters across it. It costs around £15.99 depending on where you buy it from. The DVD is of great quality. Both the pictures and sound are very good.
As with all DVDs it contains some extras. It has an option to watch the film with subtitles or not. The bonus material includes INSIDE THE SONGS, this is where the director and the song writer tells us about the songs that are in the film and how they developed. ADDITIONAL SCENES, I thought these were quite boring and wouldn't have added anything special to the film. (thats probably why they cut them out.) FILM TRAILOR, This is the advertisement used to advertise the film. COYOTE 101, The actors and directors tell us about the club in this feature. What its like in there and what it means. They tell us how they learn't to spin bottle cocktail style and learning to dance on the tables. They must have got through alot of bottles. It also has the Leanne Rimes video on it. Overall this is a good film to watch. I enjoyed it and will be watching it again.
