**Film only review of the DVD version of the film, as I watched a rental copy with no extras and there is no "DVD" listing option available I am just commenting on the film itself** A few days ago I posted a review about a film I had just watched called Crank starring Jason Statham and gave it 3 Dooyoo stars for "being so bad it was actually quite good". I watched the sequel yesterday (Crank 2 - High Voltage) and could sum up the review for that in just 3 (well, 2 actually) words: "what the....?" I will for the sake of submitting at least a "useful" review try and explain my feelings about this film; it ... Read the complete review

In 2006 I discovered a cult classic. It was full of violence, swearing and Jason Statham. For a while I became obsessed with 'Crank' and its manic blend of bad taste and ironic gestures. I bought a copy on DVD and have lent it to several people; imagine my surprise then when the reaction to the film was mixed. Some people loved it as I do allowing the stupid nature of the film to wash over them. Others found it almost unbearable with its disrespect of women and violence for the sake of it. This division is probably why it is a cult classic never to be repeated. Or so I thought. 'Crank: High Voltage' is the sequel; could it recapture the magic of the first or ... I'm gonna start off this review by saying I'm not sure about this one! Haha. I've just finished watching it and it's an odd'un. I loved the first Crank film as it was new, exciting and just didn't stop. If you've seen it you'll know what I mean. Crank 2 just feels like they've tried to take it to another, higher level that just is a bit too much. Crank 2 starts just as Crank ended. Chev Chelios is falling from a helicopter and somehow survives! In the first film Chev had been injected with a Chinese drug that will shortly kill him and the only way he can survive long enough to get his revenge is to keep his adrenalin flowing to the max. ... Starring: Jason Statham Genre: Tongue-in-cheek violent action Rated 'R' Run Time: 96 minutes Imdb.com scores it 6.6 out of 10.0 (23,908 votes) Blue-Ray: much more colourful. Cant see any point in renting that option here . So 'Crank', a crazy, whacky and deliciously violent tongue-in-cheek offering from Jason Statham, his Cockney hit man abroad a delightfully silly experience, shooting up Los Angeles as if he was remaking Reservoir Dogs all on his tod. At the end of the original 'Crank', alas, our Jase fell out of a helicopter with a Korean mobster some 5000 ft above Santa Monica without a parachute; director Mark Devildine obviously ...
