... rubbish that pervades many films of this genre. Some of the other characters are both sterotyped and irritating, but the two leads are very strong and the film does a decent job of dealing with the main issues at hand (i.e. troubled teens, pressure to succeed, racial tension?) The ending was a little lame: fine, go and be a pilot, but leave Kirsten behind? The lead character clearly lost the plot here: anyone shacked up with Dunst would surely recognise what a good thing he's got and get a job as a local bin man in the kno...more

Premium Review Crazy / Beautiful (DVD): "El Crappo man! - which moron wrote this?" (833 words)

Watched this movie last night expecting a good story that would make me laugh, and cry but generally give me a good feeling. Nope! None of that thank you very much! Overall, the story is OK, but the screenplay is pathetic! Basically the story is about Nicole Oakley & Carlos Nunes. Carlos being a hispanic boy and Nicole the daughter of a Representative (i.e. something like a local MP). The dialogue is crap, the movie is full of useless scenes of girls acting like idiots (drink driving is one of them) and hispanic boys being complete d*ck heads! Like I said, the screenplay is total crap! Here is an example: Carlos & hispanic mates sitting around ...  Read the complete review

I have to say I didn't enjoy this film as such, okay, so I enjoyed it slightly, but it wasn't really my thing! Also, believe it or not, I actually watched one of the special features, it happens to be the "4x Deleted Scenes" I don't know why we watched the deleted scenes, maybe I thought the film didn't quite add up, I don't really know, all I know is that I watched them and found them boring. The director of this film happens to be John Stockwell, I don't know why but I have heard of his name before! He is not only a film director but he is also a Actor, however he's recent projects have all been on directing, so whether that's the way he has ...  Read the complete review

This could be considered a coming-of-age story, dealing as it does with two teenagers trying to find themselves/their place in the world as adulthood approaches. Nicole (Kirsten Dunst) is a rebellious girl from Malibu, daughter of a wealthy congressman (played by Bruce Davison). One day, while doing community service for one of her transgressions, she meets Carlos (Jay Hernandez), a Hispanic boy from East Los Angeles who also attends the same high school. After they meet again, in school, they form a connection and begin a relationship. Nicole has a troubled family life. She lives with her father, her stepmother and her baby half-sister, ...  Read the complete review
