Advantages: ITS CROCODILE DUNDEE...
Disadvantages: the third film in the trilogy
Crocodile Dundee is classified as an Australian comedy film, this is definitely true but it is also so much more than that. With the perfect interplay of a journey to new lands, some fairly subdued action and a beautiful love story, Director Peter Faiman has certainly created a classic back then (1986) that still holds a great deal of quality now.
Inspired by the exploits of Rodney Ansell, the film was made on a relatively low budget by today's standards but you can see clearly from the camera work and quality of the acting that this film will stand the test of time (if it already hasn't) even the colour values haven't faded in anyway, the scenes of New York are just as bright and vibrant as the out back of "Walkabout Creek" (truly stunning).
This movie really is a pleasure to watch whether alone or with family, the cast is great the script, fantastic and overall concept is just wonderful; it's a real gem. Also mid to late 80's film are brilliant for spotting faces, check out Gus the limo driver...He's Al the cop on the radio in Die Hard (and I don't even need to look that up on IMDB, Sad?..)
I would recommend this film not just to anyone but to everyone, it is amazing, however being that there is actually two versions of the film I would suggest trying to get a copy of the Australian as there are a few extra scene that you really don't want to miss. Seriously though this isn't going to make you ponder any existential quandaries or break down and rebuild your new sense of emotional being but it will entertain you for no less than 94 mins and you will be glad you caught this movie.
You can pick it up cheap in a DVD bin somewhere, pretty much anywhere actually, or you could wait for it to hit the TV screen again as it's on fairly often, whatever you do just sit back and enjoy it.
Summary: To good to miss...
