Advantages: Hong Kong originalty, Take on the west, the whole package

Disadvantages: blindness to the quality

Crouching tiger hidden dragon is a film that has managed to do something few other top Honk Kong movies have been able to do for some time ? that is capture the worldwide cinema go-ers and make itself known worldwide throughout!
Not only is this a very well made action movie (as lets face it pretty much all hong kong movies are), but there is also a great deal more to this film than meets the eye
Through numerous conversations we learn that martial arts master Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun Fat, in his best role in years) is giving up his sword (and a treasured one at that, called the green destiny) to Sir Te (Ang Lee perennial Lung Sihung) in order to make a life together with woman warrior Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh).
When a young woman by the name of Zen appears on the scene, she gains an instant admiration for the sword, and soon after, with some great imagination, the sword of stolen by an obvious young woman, and it does not take detective Columbo to figure out who has taken it. However, the way in which it is taken, and the fights/chase that ensue thereafter are something special, and something I certainly wont foget!
Time after time, the movie continues to dazzle with fabulous effects and ever better martial arts, while food for thought is provided in the complete set of emotions portrayed by the action love tale. There really is something in here for everyone, and the luscious scenery and wonderful visuals are as close to perfects as you will find.
The acting is immense, the storyline is superb, the plot develops well (if it does drag ever so slightly at times) and this really is a hong kong movie that you really must see for yourself. Its not often a movie lives up to all the hype, but trust me this does!
Looking wonderful and sounding great, extras are also a plenty on this disks, and include:
? Two Trailers.
? Two Featurettes.
? Commentary.
? Photo Gallery.
? Filmographies.
? Choose Mandarin dialogue with subtitl
es, or English dubbed option.
? Weblink
As you can see, nothing has been spared, and this is one of the moist justified spending of £20 you will ever make, that I am sure!

WOW is all I can say about this Hong Kong Masterpiece!
