The story


The story is about volcano expert Harry Dalton, who conducts a research on volcanoes, especially active volcanoes. He's looking into a volcano, which is next to Dante's Peak the village, because the volcano shows activities. In the movie shows two people enjoying a natural spring, when the water suddenly heats up leaving the people no time to jump out the water and they are dead.
Together with the mayor Rachel Wando Harry goes to investigate, but the timing of the volcano is bad, because the city is busy with festivals because of Dante's Peak is named the best place to live. Together with the locals there's a meeting to discuss the risks of the volcano, but nobody really wants to evacuate and ignores Harry's advice. Soon they discover that was a bad decision to make, but the question is more can they leave on time?


Acting Performance


The performances are very good in this movie and especially the famous Pierce Brosnan plays really well. It's fun to see how he acts in the beginning of his carreer and now after he became famous. He plays the character Harry Dalton very well and is credible. He is concerned as to what the volcano will do to the village and is well in the action scenes. Linda Hamilton plays the mayor of the town and makes it credible. She is pleasant to watch and plays full with passion. The other actors are doing good in their acting.

Extras


There are several extras on the DVD including a making of the movie where you get to see how the film was achieved through interviews and behind the scenes. In addition, you also have an extra with the director and production that give their opinion about the movie. Also there are some smaller extras like the movies trailer. Extras are fine and are a nice complement to the movie.


My opinion


Maybe a older movie, but is still a very good one, certainly in terms of special effects. The story is interesting and well constructed in terms of tension building. You really get involved with the people and feel with them at the moment the volcano explodes. With the action scenes the special effects are really beautiful done. It's a movie you will enjoy from beginning to end
