... Irish accent which is very charming and means he gets through alot of material. His stand up does contain plenty of swearing though there's nothing offensive or crude apart from that. He also is very quick witted considering the amount of improvising his act contains. There is plenty of interaction with the audience which hewarns them beforehand though tells them they will come out as Gods. The material depends on what the audience has to say. He speaks to a proposal manager, a student and a shoemaker and makes jokes fro...more

Premium Review Dara O Briain Talks Funny - Live in London (DVD): DARA O'BRIAIN TALKS FUNNY (353 words)
by - written on 21/12/09 (Very useful, 15 readings)
Rating:

DARA O'BRIAIN TALKS FUNNY is the title of the successful Irish comedian's stand up gig filmed at the Hammersmith Apollo in London. The Setting holds a few thousand people and was sold out. The title comes from his Irish accent and because he is touring people thinkthe Irish accent is funny. I feel O'Briain's stand up is similiar to Rob Brydon particularly the audience interaction. O'Briain's stand up is very improvised and he says he was going to call it the 'you had to be there tour' because it varys night by night. He speaks in a fast paced Irish accent which is very charming and means he gets through alot of material. His stand up does contain plenty of ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review He can do more than Mock The Week! (352 words)
by - written on 19/02/09 (Very useful, 33 readings)
Rating:

Being a big fan of 'Mock the Week', the satirical panel show, I had seen Dara O'Briain in action before, albeit only in a presenting postition. Although the members of the panel on the show are all brilliant comedians in their own right, Dara is often the one to get the biggest laughs, from his little comments from the host's chair. I didn't realise he was also a stand-up comedian, so when I spotted this DVD I was intrigued to find out if he was as funny alone as he is when leading a panel! The answer, in short, is yes. I was in stitches for most of the show, which lasted over an hour. It was filmed at the Hammersnith Apollo, in front of a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Dara O Briain Talks Funny - Live in London (DVD): Dara O Briain talks funny! (429 words)
by - written on 10/02/09 (Very useful, 273 readings)
Rating:

I had never heard of Dara O Briain until a couple of years ago when he appeared in a television programme called Three Men in a Boat with Rory Mcgrath and Griff Ryhs Jones. Since then Dara seems to be everywhere and even hosts a show called Mock the Week. When searching for Christmas present ideas for my husband I came across this DVD on www.amazon.co.uk and as I thought he was a very funny comedian I decided to buy it. Last year my husband bought me a Rod Stewart CD that he wanted so I felt that buying him a DVD that I wanted was only fair! The show is very funny and includes a lot of audience participation. He basically talks to various ...  Read the complete review
