Darkness Falls (DVD) ... released 05 September, 2005 at Uca Catalogue / Features of the DVD: PAL, Widescreen / Humanity's fear of the dark provides Darkness Falls with some anxiety and fuels some jolts of fear from things popping out of nowhere. A kindly woman, who used to give children gold coins in exchange for their lost baby teeth, was hanged for a murder she didn't commit; in her last moments she laid a curse on the town (which has the unlikely name of Darkness Falls). So over the years the ghost of this woman has murdered various children because they saw her when she came to collect their teeth. In the present day, a boy who evaded her clutches returns to town as an adult in order to help the young brother of his childhood sweetheart--and from there this incoherent, inane movie is one long chase sequence without a glimmer of imagination or intelligence. --Bret Fetzer

Crowned Review Darkness Falls (DVD): Evil Rises - Standards Fall (1688 words)
by - written on 27/11/06 (Very useful, 147 readings)
Rating:

In the mid-1800s, Darkness Falls was a peaceful, picturesque coastal town, inhabited by a normal rural community. Within the community lived a woman named Mathilda Dixon, who was something of a local legend, especially with the town’s children. Whenever the children lost their last milk teeth, they would take them to Mathilda who would exchange them for gold coins and the woman quickly became fondly known as The Tooth Fairy. But the legend of Mathilda Dixon was to take a more unfortunate and grisly turn. A terrible fire raged through the wretched woman’s house one night, and although she survived, she was very badly burnt. Such was the extent of her facial disfigurement ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Darkness Falls - The epitomy of average? (644 words)

Darkness falls seems to be splitting opinion on here quite a bit, a few think it's awesome, a few think it's terrible, I don't think it is either but certainly didn't think it was a bad film, for that I think it sways more towards a 4 rating, although 3.5 is probably more accurate, I will be giving it a 3 just because I don't think it quite deserves a 4...and here's why. Darkness falls is a film about a myth, a myth about a woman known as the tooth fairy, who one day is blamed for the dissappearance of 2 young boys and hanged, only to find them minutes later in the crowd, her burnt face hidden behind a porcelain mask, the myth is that once anyone loses their ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Darkness Falls (DVD): Bit of a bore (301 words)

Rating:

I'm a big fan of horror movies its my favourite genre but Darkness Falls was lacking in some key components that make a decent horror movie. I didn't jump once not even a flinch. Anyhow the film starts out in a short naration of a fairy fable about a woman named Matilda Dickinson who was adored by children; everytime they lost a tooth they gave it to her in exchange for a gold coin. By doing this she was given the name the tooth fairy. One day a fire teared through her house. The fire so badly burned and disfigured her face she could only go out at night wearing a mask because her face was so sensitive to light. One day 2 children went missing, and ...  Read the complete review
