Death At The Funeral (DVD) ... Alan Tudyk, Thomas Wheatley / Written by Dean Craig and directed by comedic veteran Frank Oz, DEATH AT A FUNERAL finds a well-to-do British family attempting to bury their patriarch amidst a backdrop of secrets, revelations, rivalries, and illicit pharmaceuticals. While the dutiful Daniel (Matthew MacFadyen) stoically contends with major roadblocks in planning his father's funeral, including being presented with the wrong body, others connected with the family have catastrophes of their own, including the anxious Simon (Alan Tudyk), who is engaged to Martha (Daisy Donovan), and mistakenly takes a hallucinogen to calm his nerves. Lurking in the background is a mysterious stranger (Peter Dinklage) who threatens to send the chaotic proceedings over the brink. A charming mix of high and lowbrow humor, DEATH AT A FUNERAL is a lively farce that makes the most of its hijinks-filled script and topnotch cast. In addition to excellent performances by MacFadyen (PRIDE AND PREJUDICE) and Tudyk (SERENITY), the film features fine turns by Donovan, Andy Nyman, and former Swinging London sweetheart Jane Asher. Easily Oz's best movie since the giddily silly BOWFINGER, DEATH showcases the director's knack for working with large ensembles, and will appeal to fans of his earlier romp IN AND OUT, as well as to aficionados of biting British comedy.

DAAF is a passable attempt, it isn't hilariously funny but it does have a couple of laugh out loud scenes, which is two more than most Brit Coms! Its one big problem though is that, in general, we have seen it all before. The accidental taking of drugs...more

Death At A Funeral is a decidedly British farce focusing on, surprisingly, a funeral. It is the morning of the funeral and Daniel (Matthew Macfadyn) is awaiting the arrival of his fathers coffin and the mourners at his home, ready for the service and eulogy. Expected guests include his arrogant brother Robert (Rupert Graves), a successful author, his cousin Martha (Daisy Donovan) and her fiancée Simon (Alan Tudyk - Serenity, Dodgeball). Martha intends to tell her father (Peter Egan) that she is going to marry Simon, something she knows will turn her father red with anger. Unfortunately for her Simon has taken a very powerful hallucinogenic drug instead of some ...

As a family gather together for the funeral of a loving husband and great father, emotions are put to the test, and sibling rivalry even in an adult age still proves an area of concern. Amazingly however nobody notices the midget walk in the room, known as Peter (Peter Dinklage) the midget is in rather a hurry to speak to Daniel (Matthew Macfadyen) the eldest son of the deceased. While fights break out over parking spots, a man goes literally out of his mind on ecstasy, and the body in the coffin makes a special appearance; Peter drops a bombshell that is about to shake this family to its foundation, unless of course they silence him first. Not in a ...
