Death race doesn't really get to the end of the race (Death Race (DVD))

Advantages: Fast action, Jason Statham, Cool vehicles.

Disadvantages: Acting, boring plot, very predictable. Far too long. Poor Extra's.

I watched this dvd the other day and was pretty disappointed to be honest. I like Jason Statham and am a fan but this movie wasn't really made for him. It is a B grade movie at best. The extra's didn't make it worth buying either.

So the main character 'Jensen' (Statham) was a Nascar driver on the outside, he was set up for killing his wife and daughter by the prison wardern (Joan Allen), she wanted a driver to replace the one that she had murdered on the track in her prison sportsrace. Frankenstein is the driver he would be pretenting to be, a driver can win their freedom when they win X amount of races, but she seems to kill them over just when they need to win one more.

So you see the race, lots of violence and cool looking vehicles. They are built like tanks, very well armoured, lots of weapons and defensive items on board to make them last until the end.

Jensen arrives in prison and doesn't make many friends, he has fights started by other inmates. Luckily he is befriended and gets on board a team for the race. That and the racing is the main part of the movie, not very exciting. It was pretty boring and lacking in any decent acting or dialogue. The only aspect of the film that I liked is when you saw the tanker coming out towards the end, now that was a serious machine that could cause a lot of damage.

I won't spoil the end but you can probably guess as it is a generic Hollywood title. The DVDs content is as good as the film.
