Advantages: Special effects were excellent, acting was good as was the storyline.

Disadvantages: none...

A comet of immense proportion is on a collision course with Earth, and if it hits, an Extinction Level Event will occur.
The comet is named after the scientist who they think died after finding this comet. But he isn't dead and is ionly a boy called Leo Beiderman.
So the comet is called Beiderman's comet.

Deep Impact centers on the character player by Tea Leoni, an up and coming television journalist
who uncovers the biggest story of her soon to be shortened life. She ends up reconciled to a loving but absent father, waiting for the end.

While a group of astronauts (including Robert Duvall, Ron Eldard and Blair Underwood) hope to destroy the comet with nuclear bombs,
the President (Morgan Freeman) informs Americans that there will be a national lottery that will allow 800,000 Americans, chosen at random,
(plus 200,000 pre-chosen scientists, doctors, scholars, etc.), to live in a huge underground complex, just in case Plan A fails.

The boy astronomer who found the comet is automatically on the list to be saved.He goes and marries his girlfriend to try and get her to come with him to the cave.
But she won't leave her family behind. The love interest causes the young man to leave his place of safety and go to find her.
They manage somehow to outrun the tidal wave that follows the landing of a large comet fragment. Our hero survives.

The American option for saving the select is a bunker in the Missouri caves. This refuge is to be called "Noah's Ark."
The vehicle which is assigned to carry the astronauts into battle with the comet is called, "The Messiah."
Plan A fails to destroy the comet. "The Messiah" must give its life in order to save the planet.
"The Messiah" does not come back; it is obliterated by the comet.When the fragment hits a massive tidal wave hits the earth from the impact out at sea.
The reporter ends up on the beach wa
tching the tidal wave coming straight at her and her father.

The special effects in this film are brillant. Another disaster film not to miss.
This is the best out of Deep impact and Armageddon, as i have watched both.
