In an attempt to save money after Christmas and to keep my boyfriend happy after I'd gone out on Friday and ended up with a hideous hangover for Saturday, I decided to offer to pay for us to go to the cinema on Saturday evening. As I'd disgraced myself by coming in drunk at 3am and leaving a trail of cheesy chips around the house I thought it best he choose the film. In true male fashion he selected the one he thought looked the most macho, a film called Defiance. The film was released in the UK on the 9th January 2008 and runs for one hundred and thirty seven minutes in total, making it quite a long film. Directed by Edward Zwick, DEFIANCE is a action war film released in 2009. The film centres on four Jewish brothers who are hiding from the Nazis in the woods of Belarus during World War II. Daniel Craig plays Tuvia, Liev Schreiber plays Zus and Jamie Bell playe Asele who try to escape from their captors. However, the brothers face conflict as Tuvia says they should just escape while Zus says they should try and kill as many Germans as possible as revenge for the horrible murderers they witnessed on theri families. Defiance, released in 2009, tells the story of the three Bielski brothers fighting for freedom for the Jewish, in German occupied Poland. After the brutal murder of the Jewish population in their town, the three brothers escape to the forest where they are joined by many other Jewish people who have also fled the persecution.
