Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo is a comedy film that was released in 1999. The film is rated 15 due to scenes of a sexual nature and some bad language and it is 85 minutes long. Deuce Bigalow only had a budget of $17 million but went on to make $93 million worldwide. Plot Deuce Bigalow is a professional fish tank cleaner and is quite a loser. How do you turn low life sleaze and prostitution into a lighter than air family comedy? Well Pretty Woman with Richard Gere and Juliet Roberts was a pretty dull and unappetising attempt, but Deuce Bigalow is a pretty worthwhile effort and a lot more appealing than that one. In fact, all round it's highly enjoyable stuff and well worth ninety minutes of anyone's time. Rob Schneider has come out of the shadow of working with Adam Sandler (The Waterboy, Big Daddy) to appear in the limelight as the unlikeliest of heroes, an accidental male prostitute with a heart of gold and a plunger that could charm all manner of unspeakable things out of a blocked ... This is one of those movies that most of us dismiss straightaway as puerile, obnoxious and too smutty for people like us, and so don't rent it. The people on imdb.com certainly agree and scored it 5.6 out of 10.0. There was a spell in the nineties where tedious gross-out comedies like American Pie and Roadtrip somehow got mainstream and so films like Deuce Bigalow ended up getting made and lumped in that category. It was the same for the movie's star in Rob Schneider, labeled as yet another unfunny Jewish American comedian straight off the Saturday Night Live conveyor belt, given the gig purely because he had family in the business, and trust guys me that happens a lot. ... I seem to make a habit of seeing films that are funny in places, but are really quite poor, (see Kevin and Perry opinion). The plot goes that Deuce Bigalow, (played by Rob Schnieder out of the equally dour Waterboy) is a fish tank and pond cleaner, getting very little money and getting him no real credibility from anyone in the world. However, he just ends up cleaning a pond near to the pad of a rich and well-established male gigolo, (male prostitute essentially). The gigolo has a problem with his fish and so Deuce agrees to look over the fish and tell him what is the matter with it. Deuce finds that his house is absolutely luxurious, and after telling the gigolo that ... Read the complete review
