Die Hard 3 (or Die Hard with a Vengeance, to give it its proper title) sees John McClane trying to stop a terrorist setting off bombs across the city by playing a deadly game of "Simon Says". Within about five minutes of watching this film, you'll probably already have guessed that it wasn't actually written as a Die Hard film. Instead, it was a script for a generic action film which got the Die Hard brand tagged onto it - probably because it wasn't strong enough on its own. In fact, the film feels like two scripts grafted together - a generic action movie spliced with something approaching a normal Die Hard film. It's not a marriage made ... Read the complete review

You'd think that saving your wife from certain death twice would make marriage a lot easier. Well, it sure as heck ain't. John McClane, saviour of America twice over, is a wreck in Die Hard With A Vengeance. His wife has left him, he's living on his own, he's got an alcohol addiction, and he's been suspended from police duty for being too bad-ass for his own good. Sadly for John, as he's woken up by the police, he's needed again to help them. Nursing the mother of all hangovers, John has to obey the riddles and commands of a mysterious phone voice calling himself "Simon", and the first thing he wants John to do is walk through downtown Harlem with a sign round ... I love all the Die Hard movies - I think they are exciting without being too gory. Now, it's a long time since the last Die Hard (1995), which came as the last of a set of three. I wondered whether Bruce Willis would be able to live up to his 'action man' image. I have to tell you. it didn't disappoint me! At the start, it looked at bit like he was going to be a 'cop fallen on hard times' character, who had to drag himself out of depression and drunkenness, but this feeling was soon dispelled - he leapt into action almost immediately the film started, and didn't stop until the final frame! Bruce's character, John McClane, has been brought in to pick ... Read the complete review

When a bomb explodes at a Bonwit Teller store in New York City, the police receive a telephone call from someone calling himself Simon (Jeremy Irons) and claiming full responsibility for the bombing demands he plays a game with them, 'Simon Says', and if they do not play another bomb will go off. Simon orders the suspended Lt. John McClane (Bruce Willis) to walk through Harlem wearing a sign reading 'I Hate Niggers' (I'm referring to the movie and in no way intending to hurt anyone). Having been called in and briefed about his task, John McClane makes his way through Harlem. Noticing this and also noticing a group of armed kids nearby, shop owner Zeus Carver ... This second sequel to Die Hard reunites original director John McTiernan with Bruce Willis, delivering pure action in the form of explosions, shootouts, and car chases; overall, this is a lot more thrilling than the first sequel in the series was. What I like about Die Hard With a Vengeance is that it immediately cuts to the chase. The opening scene involves an explosion in downtown New York, prompting panic in and around the police station. Soon enough they get a phone call from a German speaking terrorist named Simon (Jeremy Irons), who specifically asks for McClain. He, accompanied by his new partner Zeus (Samuel L. Jackson), become involved in a deadly ... Read the complete review
